Georgia’s Trout Unlimited Chapters work with the local Forest Service and Georgia DNR on stream restoration to fell trees and build woody habitats in North Georgia streams for our native Brook Trout (Char).
The woody structure is an essential factor in the recovery of streams from the devastating effects of logging practices. Early logging has caused a massive reduction in the necessary fish cover and the streams’ ability to withstand flooding and droughts. If you want to be involved with stream restoration, please get in touch with your local chapter for the next work day.
