About Us

Welcome to the Georgia Council of Trout Unlimited, part of a national network of grassroots volunteers dedicated to trout and salmon conservation. Georgia TU is devoted to conserving, protecting and restoring Georgia’s trout fisheries. All anglers and those interested in protecting our waters are welcome.

We invite you to explore our web site, contact one of our chapters for more information, and join with us in making sure that our trout fisheries remain a healthy and viable resource for future generations of Georgians. On this site, you will also find links to our national organization and to our Southeast TU leaders.

Striving to fulfill our mission, our activities include:

Education:

Youth Education is conducted at the chapter level initiating younger individuals to Georgia TU’s conservation efforts, introduction to trout fishing, and learning to become future stewards of our watersheds. Adult education and participation is a side benefit as parents get involved with their children in these activities.

Conservation:

Conducted in conjunction with our partners and other alliances, Georgia TU is working to secure fish-friendly legislation in addition to reaching out to other individuals and organizations interested in protecting, or enhancing our coldwater fisheries. Specific projects to protect or enhance Georgia’s trout streams and their watersheds are undertaken with heavy chapter involvement by our grassroots volunteers and chapter leaders.

Participation:

No matter how you fish for trout, if you would like to learn more Georgia Trout Unlimited members at the chapter level are willing to help. Chapter activities include: monthly meetings with interesting topic-related speakers, member trout fishing trips, clinics to learn how to tie flies — or build your own fly rod, fundraising raffles in support of either chapter or Council initiatives, participation in cookouts & chili cook-offs, annual banquets, and an assortment of other activities. Generally, TU members have a lot of fun pursuing their trout fishing interests whether as a casual participant, or avid enthusiast.
